Chinese Herbal Formulations
Chinese herbal medicine has been in practice for millennia. Single herbs and formulations ranging in complexity are utilized based on traditional Chinese medical theory which identifies and treats disease, or patterns of disharmony, according to specific principles and relationships of the physical and emotional bodies. The action of a particular herb or formulation takes into account a number of principles which have been shown to have specific therapeutic effect(s). These include taste, temperature, directionality, organs and channels entered, among aspects according to TCM theory. With its many layers of specificity and synergies, it is a deeply elegant form of medicine.
Many of the herbs utilized in traditional Chinese herbal medicine are also herbs that are native to North America and are medicines utilized by Western herbal medicine systems.
